(15 October 2013). In the run up to the release of her new studio album Love & Gravity, Mary Fahl has turned mutual admiration into a collaboration with the release of Fahl's new single "Exiles (The Wolves of Midwinter)." Three years ago, the singer/songwriter received a fan email, penned by the legendary American novelist Anne Rice. Mary Fahl's last album recorded in 2007, a tribute to Pink Floyd entitled From The Dark Side of the Moon, was finally released digitally in 2011 and remains a fan favorite especially for those that obtained the rare CD version.

Says Rice, "It was an ordinary Sunday for me until I saw that some one has posted a link to you singing on my FaceBook page. They said the song 'Take Me As I Am' was inspired by Interview with the Vampire. I clicked and lo. Your voice is one of the most exciting I've heard in recent years. I am so sorry it took me so long to discover you. I hope some day you'll be on tour out here in the Coachella Valley in California."

When Anne wrote the second novel in the Wolf Gift series, the soon-to-be-released The Wolves of Midwinter, she included a reference to Mary: "In the novel, Reuben, the hero…hears coming from the empty bedroom of this character, Marchent. October Project and Mary Fahl song 'Take me as I am' and he knows it and he recognizes it. I was hearing this song in my head, I was hearing Mary Fahl singing it, I was just swimming in it when I wrote that section." This incredible new single--which will be a bonus track on her forthcoming album--finds Mary's voice at its most haunting and powerful at the same time.

Mary and Anne reconnected when the novel was in manuscript form, and it was decided that Mary would compose a theme song for the new book. Legendary producer John Lissauer (Leonard Cohen’s "Hallelujah" and 19 Hollywood film scores), stepped in as co-writer, and "Exiles: The Wolves of Midwinter" came to life.

The new song will serve as bonus content on the audiobook and in the book trailer for the hardcover. Music videos of Mary performing the song live and in studio will be issued simultaneously with the novel. A "making of" video, including an interview with Anne, will also be deployed. Mary's team is working closely with Random House, Knopf, and Anne's team to maximize the benefit for all. Check out the video at YouTube.

"I never dreamed that after this novel was finished that Mary would actually write a song that was beautiful and haunting and mesmerizing as the 'Exile.' I mean, I’m totally thrilled," concludes Rice. Prior to Mary's full album release, the song is available at popular digital outlets.
